A small but fascinating island 11 miles off the coast of Devon with enormous wildlife interest, including seabirds, migrants, an endemic plant, rare insects and a marine nature reserve. The lecture is based on frequent visits made over a period of over thirty years and charts the many changes which the island has seen in its long history.

The speaker set sail from Portsmouth harbour in his Catamaran on route to the start of the ARC in the Canaries. His talk will highlight what happened on the way and the lessons he learned.

08 April 2010 Faster Cruising, Fine Tuning your Boat Tim Pyatt
This practical talk will include the following tips: using tides more efficiently, looking at the wind in more detail, how to improve the rig and sail trim, how to make downwind sailing more fun, tips on boat handling lessons, changing gear, better crew work and other lessons. The speaker will incorporate examples of good practice and the real benefits from good instruments and displays, including measuring leeway, velocity made good and other information.
